Beckerman and Heidi Rock Silvermine!

Michael Beckerman zoomed to victory in the Men's cat 4 field at the Silvermine Time Trial Today!  The course was rather hilly for a TT, but Mike was able to finish the course with a time of 29:46- great job!

On the Women's Side,  Heidi took 2nd place in the Women's Cat 4 TT!    Great job Heidi!

Matt Richards also took 5th Place in the Men's cat 4 field-   nice work!

NYVC Keeps busy! CRCA race and hilltowns results!

The team had a strong showing this week, both in and out of town.   Corinne Karmiel scored a 3rd place finish at the tour of hilltowns-  a race well suited to her prowess as a climber!   Great job, Corinne!

The lazier teammates stayed in central park and rolled 12-deep in the B field.   Zak Abdullah initiated a winning 4 man break, but was unfortunately dropped with 3/4 of a lap to go-  Zak is proving to be a strong attacker and is well suited to getting breaks going-  a great effort on his part!

Image

Upon realizing that the break did not have an NYVC member, the team pushed the pace and started a glorious 5-man leadout train.   While the 3 men in the break stuck,  a powerful blue-and-white leadout train helped Christophe Jammet take 4th by winning the field sprint!  Teammate Alvin Poblacion Closely followed in 6th,  along with Rob Haber in 8th!   The team has been much stronger on a tactical level,  and it's showing!   We're looking to put that to use for the rest of the season-  watch out!

NYVC Dominates CRCA Power Points Race!

Image

The NYVC's cat 4 men triumphed in their best club race to date!  Matt "Mattattack!" Richards and Alvin "the dude" Poblacion took first and third in the B field.  The power points race is a challenging format,  with sprint points awarded on every lap (except the first) at both Harlem hill and cat's paw.  Matt and Alvin were able to gather points at every sprint point,  winning many of them.    They were largely helped by the rest of the team,  who took on the responsibility of leading out both of them while also keeping pressure on the field during the race.  The whole team really dug deep for this win, and it was well deserved!

Congrats to the whole team!  this raced proved how much of a team sport cycling is!

Fitchburg Recap- NYVC ladies are HOT!

Members of Team NYVC Participated in the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic Stage Race last week.  Teammates took part in four straight days of racing in the hills of northwest MA.  The stages included a (mostly) uphill time trial, a tough Road race that ended at the peak of Wachusset mountain, an aggressive Circuit course, and a fast Crit Stage.  The NYVC ladies really shined in the 3/4 field,.  Our Teammates came back with the following highlights:

Stage 1- Time Trial

Corinne Karmiel and Heidi Reijm respectively placed 2nd and 4th in the Time Trial- NICE! (cat 4 women)

Stage 2- Road Race

Corinne and Heidi came in 1st and 10th out of the cat 4 women in the Road Race-  a fantastic win for Corinne and a great result for Heidi!  Mat Richards fought with a deep cat 4 field and came in 7th.

Stage 3 Circuit Race

The Circuit Race was a fun, fast, and slightly technical course with  a sharp, short uphill finish and a few 90-degree crit  turns thrown in.  The NYVC ladies kept ripping into their field, with Corinne and Heidi coming in 2nd and 5th.  Matt Richards Eked out an 11th place finish in the men's cat 4 race.  CJIA managed to think about bacon and not get dropped after 3 days of racing.

Stage 4 Criterium

The Longsjo Classic ended with a fast, fun Criterium through the heart of downtown Fitchburg.  the weather was great and the races were exciting and fast!  Corrinne and Heidi took and 12th and 6th in the Criterium and heidi also took one of the sprint primes with 3 laps to go-  does it ever end with these ladies??   CJ and Matt were able to work a little "shake and bake,"  racing aggressively and leading Matt out to take 3rd in two of the sprint primes.

GC

At the end of the day the Ladies really did NYVC proud,  With Corinne placing 2nd and Heidi taking 5th in the GC for the Cat 4 women.   GREAT JOB LADIES!

The next big stage race for the team is GMSR-  who will bring home the bacon?
